Things were a little hazy for us the
morning after the Awards Dinner, so we're hoping you can help us
figure out some things about the party.
1. Who is hiding behind this
cell phone?
2. If the woman wearing these shoes clicked
her heels three times and said "there's no place like home,"
where would she end up?
3. Why is this photo included?
4. How many people asked Jerome O'Shaughnessy
if he had brought any hard liquor to the party?
5. Who decided to have the afterparty at the
Emerald Inn, a small, crowded bar that's over a mile away from where
the awards dinner was held?
6. Who drank too much and made a total fool
out of him or herself?
7. What do the letters and numbers on the
invitation refer to?
ANSWERS
1. This is a trick question. Jessica
Reifer is not actually hiding; she is using her cell phone camera
to take pictures of other guests.
2. There are several potential answers to this one:
a. Nowhere. Clicking your heels only
works with ruby slippers, not orange ones.
b. Central Park. Where else would orange shoes take
you?
c. Kansas. Clicking your heels three times always
lands you in Kansas.
d. The East Village. That's where Alyse Courtines
(the wearer of the shoes) lives.
3. This is a photo of the NCAA Division I-AA
quarterfinal game between Colgate and Western Illinois. It
is included because the game played the afternoon before
the party in the middle of a heavy snowfall was a popular
topic of discussion at at least one table at the awards dinner.
Colgate won 28-27. The next week they proved they could play
in the heat as well as the snow, beating Florida Atlantic 36-24
and advancing to the title game. Alas, there the Raiders were
crushed by the Delaware Blue Hens, 40-0, ending Colgate's 21-game
winning streak
4. To quote Jerome: "Everyone keeps
asking me if I brought booze with me! I just spent 12 hours
on a plane from Tokyo, and then came here directly from the airport,
so excuse me if I didn't have time to pick up some alcohol for all
you cheap bastards! What did you expect me to do, buy some
of those miniature bottles they sell on planes?" Jerome
still did his part to cure the team's sobriety when he bought a
few rounds at the afterparty.
5. This one is still a mystery. Nobody
knows who first suggested it, or who made the final decision, and
yet we all ended up there. We happen to like the Emerald Inn,
but it wasn't the obvious choice
6. No, seriously, we want to know. We
figure somebody must have. C'mon, give us some good gossip
here. You think anybody cares about this trivia?
7. The letters are the initials of various
CPTC runners. The numbers are times they ran in different
races this year. Highlight any of the initials below to see
who they belong to.
