Fortune Fight Against Prostate Cancer 5K

  • Photo 1: Tyronne Culpepper had a dilemma today insofar as his singlet was concerned.  He had traded away his air-proof team singlet with a Russian runner.  Should he show off his newly acquired import?  Still he decided to wear his United Nations singlet.
  • Photo 2: Bola Awofeso was the self-designated official photographer, and he claimed to have taken a number of great pictures.  Of course, we will have to see whether his photos meet the strict standards of aesthetics and relevance of publication on this web site.
  • Photo 3: Stacy Creamer is leaning against the bicycle.  We are sure that tri-geeks like Scott Willett and Ross Galitsky will be examining this photograph carefully.   Well, before you infer too much about Stacy, please note that the bicycle belongs to Bola Awofeso, who was off talking to a girl while he made Stacy hold the bicycle for him.  Yes, teammates are good for something, sometimes.

The self-designated official photographer of the day was Bola Awofeso, who patrolled the course on his hi-tech bike.  The following are his masterpieces of the day.  (As a warning, these photos were taken with a regular camera and then scanned.  Our photo scanning equipment is about five years old and clearly needs to be replaced.)

  • Photo 11:  At the two-mile mark, along came Jud Santos.  The backside that dominates this photo belongs to Stuart Calderwood.
  • Photo 12:  The next person to come along was Tyronne Culpepper.  According to the sign on the road, he is running in the wrong direction.
  • Photo 13:  Another figure appeared on the horizon.  Our photographer was so excited that he snapped a quick photo, in case the person should fly past him.  Who is that person?
  • Photo 14: Many many seconds later, the person has still not arrived where the photographer stood, giving him enough time to snap another photograph.  Yes, we can barely tell that this was Roland Soong.
  • Photo 15:  Now we are at the three-mile mark.  The photographer made the same mistake of seriously overestimating the speed of Roland Soong, and took another distant shot.
  • Photo 16:  There was no problem with this photo of Frank Schneiger.
  • Photo 17:  After the race, three despondent characters sat on the curb and lamented about their miserable race.  From left to right, they are Roland Soong, Tiger Woods (oops, sorry for the mistaken identification, it was really Jud Santos) and Tyronne Culpepper.  This race was sponsored by Fortune, and every participant received a baseball cap.

Now that you have seen all the photos, we urge you not to make any jokes about needing magnifying glass to see.  It is very important for this web site to have alternate points of view.  For too long, people have been terrorized by the tyrannical reign of one camera person.  We should give Bola and others every possible encouragement ...

P.S. After looking at the above, Bola said, "I'm going to get you!"

RUNNING NEW YORK

The following two screens were captured from the broadcast television show on Madison Square Garden channel.

  • Photo 21:  The two people in the middle are Jud Santos (black top) and Roland Soong (white/orange singlet, black cap).  They were right up there in the first row and took off in a blur.  They are obviously not media-savvy, and they have a lot to learn from ...
  • Photo 22:  The professional media darling is Tyronne Culpepper, who stayed back and made sure that the camera got a full-sized front shot of him.
