On August 2nd, 1999, mystery writer Patricia
Cornwell met with her many fans to discuss and sign copies
of Black Notice --- her newest book featuring medical examiner
Dr. Kay Scapetta. The event took place at the Barnes
& Noble store at Union Square, New York City.

1: The event began with a brief preamble, followed by
an extensive Q&A session. Patricia Cornwell fielded
all sorts of questions. At one point, someone asked her
to discuss the importance of her editor. She said, "Well,
Stacy (Creamer) is sitting right over there.
What do you want me to say?" (general laughter).
She went on to say that the editor is important in at least two
different ways: first, the editor can pick up the inconsistencies
in details, such as a character having brown eyes in one place
and blue eyes elsewhere. Second, some things may be self-evident
to the author but not obvious to others, and the editor can point
out where additional explanations are needed.

2: Stuart Calderwood and Stacy Creamer got
front row seats reserved for VIP's. But were they shocked
at seeing the Central Park Track Club web camera pointing
at them! Is no one safe? Is nothing sacred?

3: After the discussion, there was the book signing for
a seemingly interminable line of fans. This is not the easiest
job in the world. Keep the smile up, keep the pen moving
and keep the line moving ...

Notice, featuring models Stacy Creamer and Stuart
Calderwood, both appropriately dressed in black.

6: Not a moment to lose, as Stuart Calderwood retreated
to make notes for his own magnum opus. We don't know
what the subject is, but Central Park Track Club members probably
have cause to be alarmed ...
