West 86th Street (1.5 MILE)

  • Photo 01: Peter Allen finds an orange-clad photographer at the top of the hill.
  • Photo 02: You would have to be a real (=more than 10 years) veteran to own a singlet like Theo Spilka's.
  • Photo 03: Jon Weilbaker's singlet is not as old (between 5 and 10 years).
  • Photo 04: Chris Jurkiewicz ran up to apologise, "Sorry, I forgot about the team singlet."  Shame on you, Chris!

East 95th Street (100 meters to finish)

  • Photo 21: Peter Allen was reminded to kick at this point, as another runner was right behind him.
  • Photo 22: Theo Spilka had a horde of runners right behind him.
  • Photo 23: Jon Weilbaker finished fast and spent the next hour looking for his family.
  • Photo 24: Jack Brennan looked yearningly for the finish line on the right hand side, instead of straight up front.
  • Photo 25: Casey Yamazaki tried the inconspicuous look --- wearing a white singlet and running in the middle of the pack.  He said, "This is Father's Day.  That's why I had to run."
  • Photo 26: Chris Jurkiewicz made it six runners with six different singlets.

SUPPORT CREW

  • Photo 11: Harry Morales files the standard complaint: "Hey, I'm not in the race.  Why are you taking photos of me?"  The first sentence is a statement of fact.  The second sentence is a question that has no relevance to the first sentence.
  • Photo 12: Yumi Ogita and Erika Maple Ogita-Yamazaki wait for dad to come around.  They will have to look hard because dad is running incognito in a generic white singlet ...
  • Photo 13: Sid Howard arrived too late to start the race.  So he got to keep Robby and Matty Allen company while mom and dad ran the race.  Here he directs them to look at the camera.
  • Photo 15: Well, Sid Howard at least served a purpose today.  Here he shakes hand with Jack Brennan, third-place male 50-54.  Kinda remind us of Joe Louis and Willie Mays, doesn't it?
  • Photo 14: Here is Bola Awofeso and his bike.  He insists that he is not running because he is injured, okay?  Not that biking has treated him kindly either, as Julie Denney and company put him through a real workout in Nyack the day before.

KIDDIES' RACES

  • Photo 31: Pat Tuz gets her daughter Sasha ready for the two-year-old race start.
  • Photo 32: For the race, the parental units set up a division of labor --- Jon to assist at the start and Pat with the camera at the finish.
  • Photo 33: Two-year-olds are permitted to receive parental assistance during the race ...
  • Photo 34: Portrait of the Allen family --- Peter, Rhonda, Robby and Matty --- all of whom raced today.
