PRE-RACE ACTIVITIES
- Photo
01: A surprised Margarita Cabrera said, "You're
out of control!"
- Photo
02: Which language will the European fraternity of Michele
Tagliati and Ramon Bermo speak? Italian or Spanish?
Ramon's question is this, "Will it be announced on the web
that I am not running today because I am doing a triathlon tomorrow?"
Answer: Yes. In the same situation last year, Ramon set
a PR at Corporate Challenge on Wednesday, another PR in
the same Lesbian & Gay Pride Run on Saturday and a
debut PR at the Greater Hartford Triathlon on Sunday.
Why should it be any different now?
- Photo
03: Someone once asked, "Who is Erik Goetze?"
and received the answer, "The guy in the baggy shorts."
Here, Erik wears orange baggy shorts to go with his team singlet.
- Photo
04: Irene Jackson-Schon shakes her head and says,
"There is no escape from the camera!"
- Photo
05: Gordon Bakoulis goes for a Saturday morning
stroll in the park with Joey Ruben. Just a minute
ago, Alan Ruben was observed to be zooming to the starting
line.
FRNY COMMUNITY CHALLENGE 2 MILE RUN
- Photo
11: Diane Lebowitz said that she was treated like
a VIP this race. In the Avon 5K Run/Walk, she was directed
off the course by the lead car while leading the race. This
time, the officials specifically assured her personally that the
turnaround has been clearly marked.
- Photo
12: In the center of the mass start is Tyronne
Culpepper. Diane Lebowitz can also be seen further
back.
- Photo
13: This is an out-and-back course. Coming back
to the finish is Tyronne Culpepper, in seventh place overall.
- Photo
14: Diane Lebowitz is second place overall female.

25: Rick Shaver + Thomas Pennell
- Photo
26: Stacy Creamer attached this note of explanation:
"No, I did not wear the cap for the purpose of evading the
cameras. It was the heat. Really." Oh,
really?

4.9 MILES (150m TO GO)
- Photo
61: Jonathan Pillow led the
team in his first appearance for the team and the first serious
race in 18 months. Jonathan has running credentials including
a 14 minute 5K and 8:44 steeplechase while at the University of
Arizona, where he was a GTE Academic
All-American in cross-country.
- Photo
62: [WARNING: do NOT look if you are apt to faint at the
sight of blood] If you think that it is easy to lead the
team, please check these feet out. Running may be even rougher
on the feet than playing soccer. Ramon Bermo's first
reaction was, "Who stepped on my runner!?"
- Photo
63: Alan Ruben is second for the team.
- Photo
64: Erik Goetze is third for the team.
- Photo
65: Craig Chilton is fourth for the team.
- Photo
66: Gordon Streeter is fifth for the team.
- Photo
67: Eric Aldrich is sixth for the team.
- Photo
68: This was a mega-big-time personal record for Thomas
Pennell. But we will remember this race for something
else --- when Thomas Pennell came down and saw the finish
line, the first thing he did was to look behind him (there was
no one, in fact).
- Photo
69: Why was Thomas Pennell so concerned?
His friend and rival J.P. Cheuvront was known to be somewhere
back there.
- Photo
70: Rick Shaver's five miler time (30:40) this
week was quite a bit faster than his four miler (34:00) last week.
Can you figure what went on? And who is that person with
the white CPTC cap behind him?
- Photo
71: Michele Tagliati is in a celebratory mood after
the completion of this residency, but he does not look it in this
photo.
- Photo
72: Audrey Kingsley ran one minute faster than
last year by doing two things: (1) just memorizing her splits
instead of looking down to press her timer watch and (2) not looking
around at other people.
- Photo
73: This photo of Alex Peterhansl contains the
documentation of a technical violation plus a couple of other
interesting people.
- Photo
74: After a tough race today, Kurtis Edwards said,
"Finally, my overtraining has caught up with me."
Now if Kurtis could cut down on that cycling nonsense, everything
would be okay ...
- Photo
75: David Birchfield makes his race debut with
the club.
- Photo
76: Monica Bonamego was the third scoring female
for the team.
- Photo
77: Margarita Cabrera sneaks in a faint smile as
she listens to the comments from the gallery.
- Photo
78: Frank Schneiger promises us that he will write
another article about running. We can't wait ...
- Photo
79: Irene Jackson-Schon also smiles at the gallery.
POST-RACE ACTIVITIES
- Photo
81: The Tagliati group is surprised by the photographer:
Michele's friends Cloe and Serge from Belgium, Michele
Tagliati, Michele's daughter Isabella (with bagel),
Michele's wife Tracy and Michele's father Silvano.
- Photo
82: Here is how the photo is properly done for the Tagliati
group, with Isabella getting a lift.
- Photo
83: This is the women's corner, with Margarita Cabrera,
Stacy Creamer and Audrey Kingsley.
- Photo
87: Mike Garland chats with Stacy Creamer.
Mike did not race today, but he is wearing a Lesbian &
Gay Pride Run t-shirt. We note in passing that he was
strategically holding a cup in front of the 1998 race designation.
- Photo
84: This photo is remarkable in two ways. First
of all, it features Audrey Kingsley's team singlet on the
body of Gordon Streeter. Second, the expression of
Audrey Kingsley will surely become another classic.
She said, "I didn't think you would take a photo just like
that." Huh, why wouldn't we? She should have
known that this is precisely what we would do ...
- Photo
85: After this tough race in hot and muggy weather, Alan
Ruben asked, "Does anyone want to go running?"
While his teammates thought he was being extremely funny, he was
in fact deadly serious.
- Photo
86: Happiness is a bagel for Joey Ruben.
(Note: Alan Ruben has bestowed his official seal of approval
on this photo --- "That was a great photo of Joey!")
MISSING PHOTO: Bola Awofeso indicated that
one particular photo had better be published on the website.
Upon evaluation, we determined that it violated a specific rule
of conduct and therefore cannot be published, as much as we wanted
to oblige. We regret any disappointment this may cause.
