PRE-RACE ACTIVITIES

  • Photo 1: What is the subject of this interesting conversation among Audrey Kingsley, Alayne Adams and Tim Evans?  Could it be about showing up late at races?  Or about leaving the computer chip home?
  • Photo 2: Colin Frew puts on all the orange that he can find --- cap, jacket and shoes, and he hasn't even showed us the orange gloves and the orange singlet yet.
  • Photo 3: Bola Awofeso and his 10K partner, Jessica Bryden.
  • Photo 4: Laura Miller saw the camera and said, "Your camera is getting bigger and bigger ..." as her voice trailed away in a meaningful manner.  Sorry, but we didn't get that double entendre.  Anyway, she insisted on trying out the camera on two teammates (Mette Strandlod and Roland Soong).
  • Photo 5: Carsten Strandlod got drafted into Laura's photo collection as well.
  • Photo 6: Role reversal now, with Laura Miller and John Megaw as the subjects.  Even Laura said that she is going to look funny in this photo.
  • Photo 7: John Megaw issued this warning, "Hey, that's enough.  Now get out of here!"
  • Photo 8: DO NOT DISTURB, because Bola Awofeso is hard at work.

TWO MILE RACE

  • Photo 11: Chris and 13-year-old Vanessa Jurkiewicz at the starting line.
  • Photo 12: Here is someone whom we haven't seen in quite a while --- Bonny Rozzo.  Whatever else, we can see her coming to the website and checking out her photo!
  • Photo 13: Colin Frew ran the London Marathon last Sunday and Audrey Kingsley ran the Boston Marathon on Monday.  But here they are, wearing matching orange gloves!
  • Photo 14: Colin Frew and Audrey Kingsley posed for our official photographer, Ellen Wallop.  As Ellen would say, they are now documented every which way.
  • Photo 15: And they're off!   Leading the pack is none other than ... Colin Frew.  He has obviously had good experience at leading, being the official "pace-pusher" at the Thursday night workouts.
  • Photo 16: Ultimately, only two people passed Colin Frew, who had his highest placed finish ever.  Was that marathon a factor?  "No, I actually felt good."
  • Photo 17: Audrey Kingsley ran a PR in this race.  Of course, she had only run this distance twice, and the only other one was an eternity ago.
  • Photo 18: The person next to Bonnie Rozzo was in fact not her partner, despite the similarity in clothing.
  • Photo 19: Chris Jurkiewicz gives Vanessa a little tug.
  • Photo 20: Here is some more free ad space for Millrose's Liane Montesa.

10K RACE

  • Photo 31: This is our first couple, Tim Evans and Alayne Adams before the start of the race.  They would be the fastest twosome in this race.
  • Photo 32: Mette Strandlod and Carsten Strandlod were out until two o'clock last night, after drinking some wine.  At seven o'clock, a telephone call woke them up.   That is why they look like zombies right now.
  • Photo 33: Tim Evans finished fifth overall in this race.
  • Photo 34: Alayne Adams was the overall winner of this race.  That would make it two weeks in a row, as she also won the 5K race last week in Queens.
  • Video: This is a .AVI file captured from a Running New York segment featuring the famous Alayne Adams smile.
  • Photo 35: Carsten Strandlod is a current candidate for the male "pace-pusher" position opened by Colin Frew's depature.  Unfortunately, he spent his better effort at the Thursday night workout instead of this race.
  • Photo 36: On the other hand, Bola Awofeso slacked off on Thursday, although not before he egged some teammates onto efforts faster than they should have done.  John Megaw is right behind him, ready to pounce and pass with less than 100m to go.
  • Photo 37: Eden Weiss said, "As bad as this one was for me, it was still 3 minutes faster than I did in January.  This goes to show you what a few torture sessions at the track can do for you."
  • Photo 38: Mette Strandlod came through the finishing chute, thinking "What must I be thinking to come out here?"
