THREE MILE MARK

  • Photo 01:  What about this race?  It was raining buckets of water!  This is Tobyoko Tanser in the lead pack.
  • Photo 02Rob Zand figured out how to keep his shirt dry --- by not wearing it during the race!
  • Photo 03Erik Goetze figures, "I could have been wearing one of those orange sample jackets?"  Unfortunately, those jackets have been found not to be perfect water-proof.
  • Photo 04Isaya Okwiya
  • Photo 05Michael Rumer (white top/yellow shorts), Josh Feldman (topless/black shorts) & Alan Ruben.  Team loyalty required Alan to run this race instead of being with his wife Gordon Bakoulis who ran the Utica Boilermaker 15K and finished as 2nd female masters ($$$).
  • Photo 06Craig Chilton wore the white hat that kept the rain out of his eyes.
  • Photo 07:  Advantage should accrue to a triathlete like Peter Allen on a day like today.
  • Photo 08James Siegel has this game plan, "I'll be back in my bed by noon."  This race has an 8am start to make sure that the runners did not miss the rain.
  • Photo 09Bill Komaroff
  • Photo 10Vincent Trinquesse, another triathlete
  • Photo 11Victor Osayi, just back from the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on Wednesday
  • Photo 12Jeff Wilson.  This photo reveals how our photographer Bola Awofeso managed under the circumstances --- he was standing on the road under a bridge.

MID-RACE

TWELVE MILE MARK

FINISH LINE

  • Photo 42Rob Zand set a personal best today.  His diary entry: "1:11:55 (PR) --- 5:39, 5:24, 5:28, 5:26, 5:37, 5:18, 5:39, 5:28, 5:30, 5:21, 5:31, 5:27, 5:34, :27.  Rainy, causing ideal temperatures, although a few large puddles. Felt strong at the end of the race, like I could have kept going at this pace. Noticed a similarity in feeling to the ends of my long runs, somewhat tired but able to work through it and maintain pace. Mostly ran alone. Was in a pack for the first 3 miles but broke from that pack when the lead pack broke up. Picked off people throughout the race to finish 8th. My best race in NYC, by far."
