I just reviewed the photos from the MAC Champs
meet that finally got posted on the CPTC web page. (Bola - you
may have a faster shutter speed you can use for the sprints -
or maybe Rich Hamner was just going too fast).
Some great photos are there to match some of the
good individual times by many. Sadly, some of our runners have
no photos (or else they were spared the public humiliation by
Bola - we know Roland would never have sympathy for a less-than-flattering
shot). The photos tell an interesting story in many cases:
Great abs, great quads, good leans, good watch-stopping, good
head-turning, and good feet-positioning on the line, and last
but not least - TERRIBLE elbow form on most. Unless you
want to be dishonorably drafted into the "Elbows-Out Hall
of Shame," the guilty out there should start to work on their
elbows tucked close to the body during the race and especially
on the drive (or stagger) in the home stretch. Amazing proof of
how many need work on this - the photos tell the tale.
My wishful thinking: On checking the competitors
in each event, there are so many events where our roadies would
have placed had they entered, had some fun, won some medals, contributed
to a team victory, and had a great (and unfortunatley too rare)
opportunity to intermingle with the sprinters so we are less strangers
to each other.
