PERSONAL COLLECTION

01: After the race, James Siegel posed this
question, "So ... did you take any pictures of people in
compromising positions today?" Hmmm ... let's see ...
how about this one of Shelley Farmer giving someone the
boot?
- Photo
02: Ana Echeverri said, "I'm standing
here trying to find my teammates. But this photographer
is NOT the person I want to see!"
- Photo
03: Robin Roberts said, "I've never
met our photographer in person yet. Hmmm ... I wonder this
guy pointing a camera might be him?" She got that right
and wrong at the same time, because within minutes, she would
looking at another camera down the road held by a different person
(Photo 11).
- Photo
04: Lauren Eckhart said, "I'm waiting
to vindicate the special Alayne Adams tapering workout
program. My previous PR was 6:17 min/mile pace for four
miles. I'll see what I can do. If the program is successful,
I know exactly whom to ask to write an IPO prospectus."
Outcome: Both Lauren and Alayne set personal bests today,
so we are set to launch ...
- Photo
05: For Irene Jackson-Schon and Frank
Schneiger, the trick is to take a photo of them quickly before
they can ask for the gag rule.
- Photo
06: No, there is no need to panic because this is
not the new team uniform. Jerome O'Shaughnessy is
just showing us his fashion wear for the Easter Bonnet Parade.
- Photo
07: Joey Ruben said, "Where's daddy?
He's not supposed to be racing so soon after running a marathon!"
- Photo
08: Sammy Ruben takes a tumble, but all will
be well again as mom is right there to take away all the pains
and sorrows of the world.
- Photo
09: If Andreas Nolte does not look where
he is going, he is going to run right into our photographer.
For those who don't know, Andreas is a member-at-large from the
great state of Vermont, and a perennial host for our Vermont Marathon
contingent.
- Photo
10: Most (but not all) people avoid our cameras
like taxes, which is why we have a disproportionate amount of
captive photographic subjects (namely, people on the bathroom
line). Here, the innocent subjects are Lauren Eckhart
plus Alayne Adams and Margaret Schotte. Our
two academcians were smart enough to turn their backs (which would
never stop us ...).
- Photo
13: Craig Plummer said, "Hi, information?
Can you tell me what was Margaret Angell's 20K split time
at the London Marathon this morning? What do you mean you
don't know? You are 'information,' aren't you?"
- Photo
14: Michele Tagliati came over to say, "I
have a friend here ..." "Stop! His name
is Jesse. Right?" Yes, you will remember (and
you do remember, right!?) that Jesse's picture
appeared here from the 1999 Snowflake race ...
- Photo
15: Okay, kids, you've got to cooperate in this
photo, if only for the sake of the dads (Geoff Buchan and
Alan Ruben).
- Photo
16: Alright, now see if you can do better if we
cut the dads out of the picture.
- Photo
17: At the Kids' race earlier today, Isabella
Tagliati won a ribbon.
- Photo
18: Isabella Tagliati reaffirms that running
races are the most exciting thing in the world.
- Photo
19: Diane Lebowitz offers this analysis,
"I don't think that there is a single normal picture of me
on the website. You always jump out of nowhere and catch
me doing who knows what ..." Yes, but this is precisely
why this is one of the most beloved photo websites --- people
in their human mode, instead of the artificially rigid poses in
group portraits that you see elsewhere. Each one of our
photos challenges you to click on it because you may really be
surprised or shocked (of course, we lead you on with cryptic captions
...).
RACE START
- Photo
21: Oh, we forgot, there is a race today.
Here is the mass start.
- Video 01:
John Gleason and Rob Zand at the front row.

in seventh place.

Rob Zand

24: Large contingent of Central Park Track Club
runners: Craig Chilton, Alston Brown, Alan Ruben, Stuart Calderwood,
Kevin Arlyck, Stephen Sipe, Andreas Nolte. Do you see
why we are the most readily recognized team in this town?

25: Suso Montero

26: Alayne Adams and Victor Osayi
in front, Charlie Stark and Michele Tagliati in
the back.

27: John Kenney and Michele Tagliati in
front, Craig Plummer and Theo Spilka in the back.

in the back.

growing out of his head), Sid Howard and Jeff Wilson
in the back.

30: Ana Echeverri, with Diane Lebowitz
almost passed by completely.

31: Arthur Cooke
(Technical note: This was a massively attended
race of almost 4,000 runners in a short course. So how did
we locate our runners? It's that orangle singlet, stupid!
This leaves the question: Will we ever get a photograph of
Stephanie Gould in a race? Answer: Yes, soon enough)

41: Margaret Schotte following Sid Howard.
Actually, it is a bit disturbing to see Margaret here at this
point because her clock time was 25:12 versus the chip time of
24:45. Fortunately, it would not have made a difference
as her chip time would have dropped her right in the middle of
a bunch of teammates.

(WS) and Rafael Vera Lunas (SRS)

50: Rob Zand, followed by Erik Goetze.
Rob Zand's self-evaluation: "There are signs of hope."
He does not attach any significance to the fact that he finished
ahead of Alan Ruben in this race because (1) Alan just
ran a marathon six days ago and (2) there was no big down hill
on this race course.

What does Dave have such a pained expression? Because of
runner #4232 right behind him! Who is that? You don't
know!? Why don't you check on the NYRRC website for #4232?
Anyone would have to worry about someone with a name like that!
You still don't know even after you found that name!? Well,
think about the famous headwear, keeping in mind that this is
definitely not Dave Wottle's golf cap ... Final hint:
look at running form --- you have seen it many, many times before
...
