NORWAY RUN 5K

01: Kim Mannen wants to make that this footnote
is added: "I'm just doing this race for conditioning.
I am nowhere near being ready ..."
- Photo
02: Kim Mannen psyching herself up for a
conditioning run ...
- Photo
03: Luca Trovato makes a rare road appearance.
This race is about 3 miles longer than his usual race distance.
- Photo
04: Now at the end of the race, Kim Mannen's
conditioning run has just landed her in third place overall, equalling
her highest road race placing ever (You Gotta Have Park 5M,
Brooklyn, 2001).
GRETA'S GREAT GALLOP
START
- Photo
11: Nice cool autumnal morning, possibly too warm
for Craig Chilton (shadowed by Herbie Medina).
- Photo
12: Ricardo Granados looks at Toby Tanser
and Ryan Grote.
- Photo
13: Amidst this mass of humanity, we note that the
raised hands belong to Tyronne Culpepper and Michele
Tagliati.
- Self-Censorship: Missing photo
of Audrey Kingsley putting on her long-sleeve white shirt
underneath her team singlet through contortionistic moves.
We did promise her that if she did it correctly, then we would
not publish the photo; if she did it incorrectly, then we would
have published the masterpiece. As it turned, she did alright.

23: Rich Hollander, Tyronne Culpepper
and Michele Tagliati

24: Veteran Frank Schneiger shows us all
how it is suppose to be done --- he runs right by the curbside
and looks straight ahead. Yes, that is how you get your
picture taken well. About twenty teammates in front of him
got it wrong by running on the wrong side of the road!
- Photo
27: By contrast, veteran Audrey Kingsley
shows what not to do --- looking sideways! Her explanation?
"I was talking to Erik (Schmitz)?"
That is a re-statement of the indictment and an admission of guilt,
and not an excuse that will exonerate her ...

26: What happens when you dial 1-800-BABY-SIT and
Nathan Klejman does not show? No worry, because it
is Jerome O'Shaughnessy to the rescue for Sammy
and Joey Ruben. Where is dad? He just ran by.
Where is mom? She ran 2:42:54 at the Twin City Marathon
this same morning.

WEST 65th STREET (13 MILES)

51: With over 3000 finishers in the race, the lead
runners were lapping the back of the pack. Toby Tanser
finished in eighth place, just one step ahead of Carlos Parra

"Come on, Margaret, come on, come on, come on, you can beat
that clock!" Margaret missed by one second, but her
chip time is 1:20:59!

TROLL STROLL

Photo
91: Mom is running a marathon, dad is running
is running a half-marathon, which leaves Sammy Ruben
to run the kid's race with personal coach Stacy Creamer.
-
Photo
92: In the next age group, Joey Ruben is
coached by Jerome O'Shaughnessy, but Joey will have to
compete head-to-head against Charlotte Evans coached
by Alayne Adams. Genes ... that's what it's all
about ... running genes ...

94: All of these photo-taking activities led to
an inquiry, "Hi, are you taking photos for the New York
Road Runners Club?" Answer: "Well, no, we're
not. We're with the other website ... you know ... the
bigger one ..." However, we'll gladly take their
photos too! Pourquoi? Parce qu'elle parle français!
Meanwhile, Jonathan Wells requested a family photo too
and got this response, "Sorry, you're with the wrong team!"
Well, well, well ...

Self-Censorship:
From Stacy Creamer: "Thanks for sparing the shot
of me cleaning up Sammy's face ..."
