You Gotta Have Park

PRE-RACE

  • Photo 01:  Well, as you have come to expect, our favorite captive targets are people trapped on the portosan lines (Alan Ruben and Rick Shaver).
  • Photo 02:  Further down the line is Alston Brown.
  • Photo 03:  A cool morning has suddenly turned into a hot day when the sun came out.  Therefore, it is important to take in liquid like Joey Ruben.
  • Photo 04:  Or if you biked all the way from Manhattan, expected to ride all over the course and then bike back to Manhattan like Bola Awofeso, you better replenish your energy with some food (donut!?).
  • Photo 05:  Or you can just lay back and watch like the Bakoulis family.
  • Photo 06:  At the starting line, it was the waiting game with Toby Tanser.  In particular, he is waiting to find out how his knee would hold up after encounters earlier this week with (a) a Chinese delivery person going up the street the wrong way on a bike; (2) a suddenly opened taxi cab door; and (3) an unleashed dog dashing across his path, all during the same bike ride.
  • Photo 07Rob Zand, wearing that singlet that all new members receive for free upon signing up.
  • Photo 08:  A Frenchman was observed to be shadow-dancing in the woods  (technical note: since he wears the wrong colors, his name can be mentioned only indirectly)
  • Photo 09Kim Mannen choked when she saw the cameraperson --- "I wore this blue top because I was hoping to run anonymously!"
  • Photo 19:  As if one photographer was not enough, here Kim Mannen runs into our other photographer.
  • Photo 10:  On this day, Toby Tanser represents Fila on behalf of Tanzania.  No, he doesn't quite have a tan.  Also, he did not get the number nine bib --- Tanser 9 is pronounced as Tansernio in Swedish.

MILE 4.7

  • Photo 80Toby Tanser in 3rd place.  The Chinese delivery person was tougher than he thought ...
  • Photo 81Rob Zand, 2nd place on the team, all the more satisfactory because Alan Ruben did not catch him on that long, long downhill.
  • Photo 82Alan Ruben, with Josh Feldman in the shade.
  • Photo 83Craig Chilton, giving Stephen Marsalee a free photo.  We know that people on other teams check out our photos to look for themselves.  To maximize your chances, stay behind and never in front of Central Park Track Club runners!  If you are in front, you will be cropped out of the photo --- this is a promise! --- just as nobody will ever know whose elbow appears in this photo.  This has been a public service announcement from your favorite website.
  • Photo 84:  Our resident restaurant critic John Scherrer (who said, "If I am going to identified as the 'resident restaurant critic,' then I am never going to send another review in ...")
  • Photo 85Kevin Arlyck has no idea how many people his travel instructions had helped ...
  • Photo 86Ricardo Granados, 2nd master
