Cat Hill

This hill goes from East 75th Street up to East 81st Street on East Drive in the Park. The hill derives its name from the sculpture of a cat perching on a rock (see the above photo). As a hill, it is neither particularly long (about a quartermile) nor steep, compared to the northern hills in the park, say.  It occurs around a curve, which makes it slightly difficult to build and sustain momentum.

But the reputation of Cat Hill derives from the fact that it tends to appear late in the race when one is near total exhaustion. As such, Cat Hill represents various opportunities. For those who have something left, now is the time to make a move. For those rabbits who are now running empty, now is the time to despair!
