Central Park Reservoir Bridle Path

Surrounding the reservoir itself is the bridle path. For runners, this resembles a cross-country trail. The footing is rather uneven, with rocks, pebbles, tree stumps, puddles, etc. Therefore, the bridle path is more appropriate for strength-building than speed workouts. On some occasions in the summer when the outside is still bright, we have some workouts on the bridle path, to the delight of the strength runners and the distress of the pure tempo runners. On the bridle path, you will see some of the many famous classical bridges of the park, such as the one at the southwest corner (as shown in the photo above).

The New York City Central Park is a public facility used by many people. The bridle path is shared by many different types of users. In this picture, we see a horserider, two strollers, a runner and a dog-walker. Extra caution should be exercised by everybody.
