Central Park Reservoir
This building structure is located at the South East corner of the Central Park Reservoir, and houses the pumps which control the flow of water into and out of the reservoir. The building is at the top of some steps leading up from East Drive near 86th Street (Metropolitan Museum). Some of our workouts use this landmark as a starting or stopping point. The greater significance of this building is that this is the locale for the climactic scene of that great running movie, Marathon Man, starring Laurence Olivier and Dustin Hoffmann. If you don't know this movie, you should rent a copy and learn it well. I mean, really well. Otherwise, you will never be able to appreciate the dentist jokes that our Coach tells, and failure to laugh at the right moments will ostracize you. |
