Columbus Circle Entrance
This is the southwest entrance into Central Park, from the direction
of Columbus Circle which is situated at the intersection of Broadway,
Seventh Avenue, Central Park West and 59th Street. This is also
the point where the New York City Marathon route re-enters
Central Park for the last time. It is less than 800m to the finish
line from here.
Today, this path has been paved over with asphalt. Some years ago,
it used to be a dirt path. It was at this point that
a Norwegian woman and her entourage of motorcycle police escorts
blew past our coach George Wisniewski, covering him with
a cloud of dust.
